Dear Kids,
We’re already on Day 4. I think we’ve pretty much acclimated to the local time if not the constant sun…and definitely not the constant mosquitoes!
Like yesterday, I was up early and working by 5. I could really get used to this…getting up when everyone is still asleep and having a nice peaceful morning, then being done work at 1 in the afternoon. But alas, soon enough this working vacation will be over and we’ll be back to our normal life on the East Coast. But for now, I’m lovin’ life.
Like yesterday, I stopped working for a little bit to help get you ready and drive you to camp. This time, there were no issues, and SBK was excited to go. That was a huge relief. On the way back to the house, I stopped by the post office to drop a letter SBR wrote to R___ (your bestie…I wonder—hope really—you’re still friends with each other), who is currently at camp in New England. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to check out the inside of the post office to see if was different from ours, so I just dropped the postcard in the box, and headed home to get back to work.
Ima and I are training for a 1/2 marathon, so we’ve been working hard to stay running while we’re here, and I went back to Pioneer Park to run again (if you care, I ran a different direction than the one I had previously ran…wow, so exciting to know, right?).
Seriously trying to out Alaskan the Alaskans, the three of you and I headed over to Walmart to buy some more stuff, specifically hand soap. As they say, you can really tell a lot about a culture by who shops at and what’s sold at the Walmart, so it was an educational trip. I mean, who doesn’t want to spend their summer vacation in and out of Walmart?
For dinner, we indulged in fancy food, and I fried up some Beyond Burgers. SBR, Ima, and I enjoyed them.
After dinner, Ima watered the garden (continuing with doing our household chores in exchange for the house) and went for a run.
Finally, as we settled down to go to bed, I started to get very stressed…the hand soap, you know, the soap we went to Walmart for? It was missing! I looked all over, but nothing, nada, nope…couldn’t find it. I called Walmart to see if maybe I left the bag at the register. They didn’t find it. I went to bed very distraught that I lost the soap and we’d need to return to Walmart to buy more.
Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day.
Love,
Aba
